The world of service has changed forever. Especially when it comes to your customers…
In the face of health crises, political upheaval, and climate catastrophe, people expect MUCH more of the companies they do business with.
And organizations that don’t keep up?
They’re going to lose customers…
…and lose brand reputation.
(Which means lower team morale, less profit, more costs, and worse service…
…which leads to MORE lost customers, MORE lost employees, and an ever-sinking brand reputation.)
Once that downward spiral begins –
It’s REALLY hard to reverse course.
So how can you avoid the downward spiral altogether?
Just give your people more of what they value!
What do I mean? – Contribution!
Your customers and employees want to do business with organizations that contribute to a better future for everyone!
That’s a lesson I learned from my mentor, Dr. Fernando Flores.

Ron Kaufman with the fifth and final mentor in this series.
An extraordinary gentleman I’ve had the privilege of knowing and learning from for more than three decades. Dr. Fernando Flores. Dr. Flores was born and raised in the country of Chile, and by the age of 29, he already had five children, and was the country’s minister of Finance under President Salvador Allende.
After a military coup that toppled that particular administration, he ended up in political prison for three years, and then Amnesty International got him out, brought him up to California, where he started teaching at Stanford University and got his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of California in Berkeley in just two years. How do you do that in just two years? He said, “I didn’t have time. I already had five children and had to make a living.” Well, Dr. Flores turned out to be such an extraordinary philosopher, politician, inventor, business person, but most of all, I’ve known him over the years as an educator and as a mentor.
He has created hundreds of different workshops. He’s known worldwide as the father of ontological coaching. He’s the philosopher who took the idea of speech acts and recognized that, in fact, what we’re doing with language is action and created the famous loop that’s featured in this book, ‘Conversations For Action and Other Collected Essays’ organized by one of his daughters, Maria.
Now, Dr. Flores then continued to flourish his teaching over his own lifetime, becoming involved in universities and in global businesses, and constantly, always as well in education. He’s co-authored many books, including this one called ‘Disclosing New Worlds’, which I do commend to you, really pointing out how human beings can invent new ways of being, new interpretations within which we live and collaborate with each other. One of his daughters, Gloria, wrote this extraordinary book called ‘Learning to Learn and the Navigation of Moods’. I couldn’t recommend this more highly.
Gloria today is also president of the family company called PluralisticNetworks.com and it’s just one more thing for which I really appreciate the wisdom and the insight of Dr. Flores, that he’s taken responsibility to make sure that his teachings and his impact, and his service to the world will continue for years to come. If you’re interested, where I’ve learned as much as I have in so many unique ways over the course of my life, I encourage you to visit PluralisticNetworks.com where you can learn about the programs that are available for you today.
Dr. Flores, thank you again for having been the most profound mentor in my life in commercial, personal, business, and even moral manners. I appreciate all of my mentors and I appreciate the privilege and opportunity of being able to bring them to you, my viewers, around the world. May you continue to flourish in your life and cherish those who bring you wisdom and guidance along the way.
